The exhibition at the Estonian Road Museum will stay open throughout August, from Tuesday till Sunday 11am until 7pm. The Exhibition “NOT out of sight, NOT out of mind” and its related events has free entry.
The exhibition “NOT out of sight, NOT out of mind” is set out to raise awareness of the fact that trash does not disappear from the planet. It is accumulating at a disturbing rate, and the only way for us to regain control is to become conscious of the fact that waste is part of our culture.(Waste)Culture is systematic, covering different levels, from individuals to organizations, from producers to governments and states. Following this cause 17 internationally recognized artists from 9 countries were invited to develop artworks using waste materials found locally or from the landfill “Daibe”. The subsequent exhibition is as multifaceted as the authorship and the problem tackled. Works range from dystopian visions and public disobedience to metaphysical contemplations, documentary depictions and practical solution searching.
Participating artists: Varvara & Mar (EE), Jacob Kirkegaard (DK), Marta Moorats (EE), Kiwa (EE), Ansis Starks (LV), André Avelãs (NL/PT), “The Laboratory of Microclimates” Annechien Meier & Gert-Jan Gerlach (NL), Johanna Lohrengel & Gatis Kreicbergs (DE/LV), Ieva Krūmiņa (LV), Geraldine Juárez (SE/MX), Justin Tyler Tate (CA), Willem Boel (BE), Timo Toots (EE), Elena Redaelli (NO/IT).
