The Institute for Environmental Solutions has developed the paper of Citizen Science in Latvia within the FIeld of Environment. The aim of the document was to identify key elements and understand the state of citizen science in Latvia regarding to the environment studies. It gives a general overview of citizen science describing the forms, benefits and challenges, case studies of citizen science in Latvia and other countries, latvian researchers’ and environmental protection specialists’ perceptions towards citizen science, as well as future perspectives of citizen science.
The paper was developed in cooperation with Snowchange Cooperative (Finland) and Vetenskap & Allmänhet (Sweden) and as a part of the project "Opening the doors of science:Baltic-Nordic Cooperation for Citizen Science Development (Acronym – SciDoors)" Nr. NGSLV – 409 (Acronym- SciDoors) that is supported by the Nordic Council of Ministers in Latvia.
