Anita Zariņa will participate the international conference “Baltic Amber across Time and Borders” that will take place on the 19th and 20th of September. Anita Zariņa will participate two sessions and will speak about "Representations and construction of amberland in Latvia in 20th Century" and "Territoriality and developments of amber practices in Latvia in the 19th and 20th Century". The conference will take place in the Great Hall of the University of Latvia as part of the "Riga 2014" Programme.
The conference covers the theme of amber in pre-history and later history, as well as in ethnography and folklore, drawing on findings in natural history and variety of approaches to the research in the field, including conservation and restoration of amber. Scientists from 16 countries participated in the conference, including – in addition to Latvia and other European countries – scientists from Jordan, the United States, and China.
