Chemistry laboratory

Advanced analytical methods and research are essential to obtain qualitative herbal drug-based products. We combine knowledge and expertise in medicinal plant phytochemistry to provide sustainable solutions for the industry.

We offer

a wide range of comprehensive chemical analytical methods

We focus

on specific characterization of medical plants and their products

At our disposal

state of the art equipment and experience-based competence for physico-chemical characterization
Identification and quantification of volatile compounds in essential oils by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
Identification and phytochemical profile of non-volatile compounds in medicinal plant extracts, quantification of various plant active compounds and their groups using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-UV-MS) and spectrophotometry methods.
Determination of macro, micro elements and heavy metals for various samples, incl. in herbal drugs, their processed products, in soil, using microwave plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (MP-AES) methods.
Determination of physical parameters of medicinal plants and their products incl. moisture, total ash content, essential oil amount, refractive index, density, and optical rotation

Qualitative and quantitative characterisation of greenhouse gases (GHGs) in air samples and air sampling.

Smart farming and agricultural technologies

Plants are a rich source of valuable substances – the effect of many medical and cosmetic products is ensured by substances originally derived from plants. The Institute for Environmental Solutions specialises in the development of agro-technologies for medicinal and aromatic plants – we do this in an innovative way, using our experience in remote sensing and data processing, combined with a deep knowledge of biology and agronomy.

Remote sensing data-based solutions

To make objective decisions, one needs to observe the problem from different angles – and different heights! By using data from different sensors (RGB, thermal, LIDAR, hyperspectral, etc.) mounted on drones, planes and satellites, we are able to discover completely new patterns in the area under study.

Innovative forestry approaches

To ensure that the forest is not only productive but also has high biological value, it is worth gathering a wide range of data on this ecosystem. Data processing capabilities allow deciding on the most appropriate forest management measures at a given moment in time.

Applied entomology laboratory

Since 2020, the Institute of Environmental Solutions has an Applied entomology laboratory, where populations of the cabbage white (Pieris brassicae), peach aphid (Myzus persicae) and greenhouse whitefly (Trialeurodes vaporariorum) are permanently maintained. We offer services such as:

Climate technologies

Agriculture and forestry account for more than a quarter of the world’s total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions each year. To meet the growing demand for food and other resources, more efficient and environmentally friendly ways of farming must be found and zero-waste technologies must be incorporated into production.

Data-based environmental management solutions

Successful planning and management of environmental development is only possible if decisions are based on objective data.

Data-based nature conservation solutions

Nature conservation has been the cornerstone of the Institute for Environmental Solutions since its foundation. We have always sought ways to manage natural resources sustainably, basing decisions on objective data.
