The visit was a part of the University of Latvia and Rajamangla University Thailand exchange program initiated by IES leading researcher Matīss Žagars. The main objective of the visit was to exchange marine research knowledge and experiences and to strenghten IES and Rajamangla University cooperation in the future.

During the visit two Rajamangla University scientists and four students took part in the Alūksne lake ecosystem's research. They also were introduced to IES unique research technologies. The most curious they were about IES scientific approach of the research of fish ecology and ecotoxicology.

Matīss Žagars has built the cooperation with Rajamangla University since 2008. So far both Latvian and Thai scientists and students have got indispensable knowledge of marine research opportunities, methods and technologies. In order to improve the knowledge and experience, in future there are planned also IES scientists and students visits in Thailand.
